I am Raymundo Aleman and I am the Libertarian candidate for the Texas Senate District 26.  The Libertarian Party is the only party today that stands for liberty and freedom for all Americans.

We oppose the government's intervention in the citizen's right to live and work as he wishes.  Today most Americans have become inured to government interference in every aspect of our lives.  We allow government at all levels to tell us how to conduct our business, raise and educate our children, and live our most private affairs.

We no longer realize that every alleged benefit from the government comes with strings attached.  The government has only two functions, to protect the citizens from force or fraud.  Yet we have allowed it to take over almost every aspect of our lives.

The Libertarian Party is the party committed to give all citizens back their rights and to show that an intrusive government is not necessary for progress and prosperity.

If elected, I propose to do everything in my power to give back their rights, liberty and freedom to all Texans.  The government had no right to take them in the first place. 

1.  The drug war is an utter and complete failure.  It has resulted in the ruin of far more lives than the use of drugs has.  More emphasis must be placed on education and treatment rather  than punishment.  The jails and prisons are jammed with drug offenders, most of them non-violent.

2.  Most schools are a government monopoly. A very bad monopoly.  This needs to change.  Schools of all kinds should have the opportunity to thrive.  At present, the schools are operated for the benefit of the teachers rather than the students. 

3.  Have you ever wondered how your life would change if your whole pay check went to you?  Quite a bit.  All government activities should be funded by a sales tax rather than income taxes.  Even the poor would do better under such a system since the price of necessities would be lower and the government's hidden costs that raise the price of every good and service would be reduced.  More importantly, the IRS, one of the worse violators of citizens' rights would disappear.  Talk to your congressman about it.
